Kings Looking To Deal No. 7 Pick For Veteran Floor General

Kings Are Ready To Win

It appears as if the Kings are committed to winning now in Sacramento.  Evident by their talks with the San Antonio Spurs concerning point guard Tony Parker.

On San Antonio’s side of the story, it could mean a changing of the guard.  Confidence must be high in George Hill, if this occurs.

Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski:

The San Antonio Spurs are engaged in discussions about trading point guard Tony Parker to secure a high pick in Thursday’s draft, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. The Spurs have talked to teams in the lottery, including the Toronto Raptors and Sacramento Kings, who hold the fifth and seventh picks, respectively.

But is Parker on the move, or Hill?

League sources said Hill also has drawn trade interest from teams willing to give the Spurs a pick near the back end of the lottery.

Jonathan Givony from Draft Express via Twitter:

NBA sources say San Antonio has offered George Hill to Milwaukee (#10), Golden State (#11) and Utah (#12) in exchange for their pick.

With the Spurs looking to roll the dice, it’s the Kings who are also looking to make waves on draft night, as they are interested in another Western Conference lead guard besides Parker.

ESPN’s Chad Ford with the latest trade rumor concerning the Kings and Nuggets’ point guard Raymond Felton:

The Kings have had interest in Felton but it’s probably going to take them giving up the No. 7 pick to get him. I wouldn’t be shocked to see the Nuggets grab Jonas Valanciunas or Bismack Biyombo if they could get up to No. 7.

Here’s my mixed ratings involving the two veteran point guards and two draft prospects expected to be available at seven.

1. Kemba Walker - Easily the most explosive and quickest of the four guards.  Talent wins out.

2. Tony Parker – Seems to have lost a step, yet, he’s a championship-caliber point guard.  Always good to have a winner.

3. Jimmer Fredette  – Makes Tyreke extremely deadly.  The best scorer in this year’s draft.

4. Raymond Felton - A solid player who is a third-rate PG.

Trade details: Lastly, the deal involving S.A. would have the Kings parting ways with Omri Casspi, and in the trade rumor featuring Felton, the team would receive Denver’s first-round pick No. 22 overall.

Update via Jonathan Givony on Draft Express via Twitter:

Cannot believe Sacramento is legitimately considering taking on Richard Jefferson’s awful contract AND giving up the #7 pick. Terrible trade

I guess the Kings are so committed to winning now, that they are willing to risk the future (#7 pick) and take on a bad contract (Richard Jefferson isn’t the player he used to be).
